In September 2023 the Auckland Council’s Supporting Growth Team announced The Pukekohe Detailed Business Case for future transport links was approved by the Auckland Transport and Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency Boards. Future transport links are being planned now to cater for the increased growth of our community over the next 30 years.
Birch have engaged with Supporting Growth throughout the consultation process to date, on behalf of multiple clients. We continue to support our clients through this consultation process on both planning and engineering related impacts associated with the future development of their land, and the future transport links.
These future transport links for Pukekohe, Paerata and Drury South are now being further advanced in October 2023, by the issuing of Notice of Requirement (NOR’s) by public notification, and directly to affected land owners.
Submissions to these NOR’s can be made until 13th November 2023. If you, or someone you know, has received a NOR, and would like independent advice on what it means for you, please get in contact with us.
The project required multiple land use and subdivision consents, including stormwater management, water take, earthworks, nutrient discharge, and worker accommodation, due to its large-scale hydroponic operation.
Birch coordinated with geotechnical, hydrology, landscape, and noise consultants to compile reports and applications, ensuring Council could assess and approve the project efficiently without public notification.
Yes, the project involved extensive earthworks, with approximately 75,000 cubic meters of cut and 60,000 cubic meters of fill, creating suitable building platforms for the hydroponic structures.
Birch carefully assessed all activities under Council guidelines, including restricted discretionary and non-complying activities, ensuring all development met resource management requirements and maintained site integrity.
